Heavenly Cinnamon rolls with plum jam and marzipan crumbs
These cinnamon rolls are phenomenal. Texture-wise, flavor-wise. Bites of happiness. Seriously. All of the flavours are not overpowering. They make up the perfect composition of deliciousness. So good!
Get the ingredients out. You need to make these.
Recipe for 5-6 Cinnamon rolls with plum jam and marzipan crumbs
Dough
- 360 grams of flour
- 20 grams of yeast
- 175 grams of milk
- 50 grams of sugar
- ½ tsp of vanilla extract
- 50 grams of melted butter
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp of orange zest
- A pinch of salt
Cinnamon topping
- 50 grams of melted butter
- 30 grams of brown sugar
- 2 tsp of cinnamon
- 100 grams of plum jam(see my recipe for homemade plum jam on my feed) + more for drizzling
Marzipan streusel
- 20 grams of ground almonds
- 20 grams of powdered sugar
- 20 grams of butter
- 2 drops of bitter almond
- Optional ( 1-2 tsp of water)
Instructions
- Mix the milk, the yeast and the sugar.
- Add in the remaining ingredients for the dough and knead for ~ 5 minutes.
- Let the dough rise at room temperature for ~ 1 hour.
- Prepare the cinnamon filling by melting the butter and mixing this with the sugar and the cinnamon. Butter a baking dish.
- After the resting time: Stretch out the dough in a rectangle and spread the cinnamon butter on top. Add the plum jam and cut into 5-6 cinnamon rolls.
- Mix the ingredients for the marzipan streusel together – by hand- until streusel form. Spread these on top of the buns.
- Place the dough into the baking dish and let the cinnamon rolls rest – covered – for another 15-30 minutes.
- In this time- preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
- Bake for 23-27 until golden-brown.
- Drizzle with additional plum jam and enjoy.
