Delicious plum jam
We love plums in all variations – as you have seen on the blog and on my Instagram feed lately. Since we have had sooo many plums this year, I wanted to make some delicious plum jam out of these wonderful, flavorful fruits.
This is so easy to prepare and so delicious! For me – this is the perfect jam for the end of summer and the beginning of fall, since it already incorporates cinnamon – which is the ultimate fall flavor, for me.
Recipe for 3 glasses of delicious plum jam
- 1000 grams of plums
- 100 – 120 grams of brown sugar – according to how sweet or tart your plums are
- 2 packages of vanilla sugar – alternatively 1 tsp of vanilla extract + 15 more grams of brown sugar
- 1 tsp of lemon juice
- 1 tsp of cinnamon
Wash and cut the plums and take the core out. Place the plums into a blender and puree these. Then take the plum puree and add this, together with all the other ingredients into a pot. Let this simmer on medium heat for 40 -45 minutes. Don’t orget to stir the puree once in a while to prevent it from sticking to the pan. You can either puree the hot mixture in the pot or transfer the hot jam to a heat safe blender and blitz this for a couple of seconds, until you have a smooth jam.
Prepare mason jars or other glasses with a screwable lid and wash these with hot water. Transfer the jam into the glasses and screw the lid on. Turn the glasses upside down, so these are standing on the lid. This is sealing the glass and the jam will be edible a lot longer. Let the jam cool down entirely, before you turn it around again. These jams can easily be eaten for up to 4 to 5 months. Once the glass is opened, you need to keep the jam in the fridge and use it up rather quickly.
Let me know, if you have tried this.
Love and happiness,
Sue
