Crunchy belgian waffles

We absolutely loove waffles. We have made waffles in our house according to this recipe, as long as I can remember. I have tweaked my Mom’s recipe just a teeny-tiny bit. But this is pretty much, how we always eat them.

These are favorite toppings in my house
-powdered sugar
-ice cream
-fresh fruit
-hot cherries

Or- the ultimate option is combining some of these – like ice cream and hot cherries.

What do you top your waffles with?

This is a quick recipe and a life saver- if your kids have a – mom I need something sweet – craving. The secret ingredient is always love- of course. But aside from that- the secret ingredient is – in this case- a package of vanilla pudding. 😉

Recipe for 12-14 delicious belgian waffles

-250 g of softened butter
-220 g of sugar
-two packages of vanilla sugar (16 g) or another 15 grams of regular sugar and 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract
-five eggs
-250 g of flour
-one package of vanilla pudding powder-alternatively 35 gr of cornstarch +1/2 tsp of vanilla extract
-1/2 package of baking powder
-A pinch of salt
-0.25 mL of milk
-half a teaspoon of lemon zest

Instructions
Cream the eggs, sugar and butter together until creamy. Then add the dry ingredients and mix again.

Bake these in a waffle iron and top with fruits, powdered sugar or hot cherries! Or as I mentioned before, top with everything.

Belgian waffles

We use a Belgian waffle iron which makes beautiful, crispy waffles. You could easily bake these in a regular waffle iron, though.

I hope you enjoy these as much as we do.

Love and Happiness,

Sue
